Franklin D. Azar
Franklin D. Azar founded Frank Azar Car & Truck Accident Lawyers in 1987 with the goal of effectively representing clients by ensuring that they receive full and fair compensation for their injuries, regardless of the cause. Over the years Mr. Azar has built the firm into the largest plaintiff-centered personal injury firm in Colorado, with offices in Denver, Aurora, Thornton, Colorado Springs, and Pueblo.
Mr. Azar has earned widespread recognition as one of Colorado’s top plaintiff’s attorneys. Although he is best known for representing people injured in car accidents, he is actively involved in cases across the country concerning wage and hour violations, insurance bad faith, products liability, and various mass torts concerning pharmaceutical drugs and medical devices. Given his expertise in effectively representing injured clients, Mr. Azar was appointed to the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee in the Multi-District litigation involving DePuy’s faulty Pinnacle hip implants. Additionally, Mr. Azar helps to curb corporate corruption by actively assisting whistleblowers with enforcement of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. In 2013, Mr. Azar tried and won one of the largest individual cases against a football helmet manufacturer in U.S. history in Trinidad, Colorado—securing an $11.5 million verdict, with $3.1 million of the verdict against Riddell, the primary provider of helmets to the National Football League.
Our History
Franklin D. Azar founded our personal injury law firm in 1987. A cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate from the University of Colorado, Mr. Azar obtained his law degree at the University of Denver. He grew up in Trinidad, Colorado — where his father was once District Attorney, and where he himself served as an assistant DA — and retains many connections and commitments to his hometown.
Known locally for his expertise in personal injury cases, Mr. Azar soon gained national attention for bringing the first case in what evolved into a 26-state class action lawsuit against Walmart stores over its labor practices. That case and others eventually led to more than $750 million in settlements from the company in cases in which Frank Azar Car & Truck Accident Lawyers was directly involved. The litigation also changed how Walmart paid its employees for overtime and missed rest and meal breaks.
Mr. Azar has devoted his career to the representation of the under-represented. He actively supports various food banks, youth service groups, and other charitable organizations, and his Azar Invitational Tournament has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for scholarships in southern Colorado.
